They didn’t need to do that

6/7/2010

Target deserves to be commended this week for donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross to aid those affected by a tropical storm and volcanic eruption that impacted Guatemala. It may not be a lot of money, but the fact that the company gave anything at all is noteworthy, considering Target doesn’t operate stores anywhere near where the events that unfolded received scant media coverage. “At Target, we are committed to helping families and communities in need,” said Laysha Ward, president of community relations at Target. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all communities affected by the disasters and our appreciation to those who are assisting with relief efforts. Moving forward, we will continue to monitor the situation and work with our non-profit partners to assist with disaster-relief efforts in the region.”
