Tesco pleased with U.S. venture

LONDON Tesco chief executive Terry Leahy reported today that thus far his company was pleased with its U.S. venture.

"Our first Fresh & Easy stores in the United States have been very well-received by customers,” Leahy reported.

Tesco today reported group sales for the third quarter ended Nov. 24 increased by 11.8%, up from 9.2% in the first half.

Tesco made its U.S. debut this month with stores opening in Southern California, Las Vegas and Phoenix..
