Terracing Retail

3/1/2008

Developer Pace Properties, St. Louis, may well change the shape of shopping in West St. Louis County with the development of Manchester Highlands, which rises above the intersection of Manchester Road and Missouri Highway 141. The 550,000-sq.-ft. project, co-anchored by a Wal-Mart Super-center and Costco Wholesale Club, will feature six freestanding buildings and parking for about 2,500 vehicles on three stacked shopping terraces. “The site falls more than 100 ft. from the high point on the north to Manchester Road on the south, necessitating the innovative ‘terrace’ solution,” said Rick Meyer, VP of development for Pace.

The center is projected to open in fall 2008. Chesterfield, Mo.-based Brinkmann Constructors is building the center. The architect is TR,i Architects, St. Louis.
