Tech Company Settles Kohl’s Dispute

Newport Beach, Calif., Acacia Research Corp., which develops and acquires patented technologies, said Tuesday it reached a settlement with Kohl's Department Stores Inc. related to a patent for credit-card fraud protection technology, according to the Associated Press.

The technology covers a computerized system for protecting retailers and consumers during credit- and debit-card transactions, Acacia said.

Acacia did not disclose financial terms of the settlement.
