Teavana adds new POS

4/28/2009

Atlanta Teavana is adding a new point-of-sale system to support its portfolio growth during 2009.

As the chain prepares to reach its goal of 120 locations this year, it needed to transition away from its aging IBM SurePOS systems to a unified POS solution that was more cost-effective and less difficult to maintain. The company chose the Retail Blade system from DigiPoS, Ontario, Canada, mainly because “it didn't require specialized knowledge for maintenance and support, and it cost half as much as our previous platform,” said Teavana’s IT manager David Eshelman.

The units also feature an Epson T88iv receipt printer, Datalogic Mobile Quickscan barcode scanner and Microsoft Windows XP Pro operating system.

The chain is underway with the rollout, which started prior to the 2008 holiday season.
