Target's electronics dept. takes page from Apple
Target is taking a page from Apple and remodeling its electronics department to echo the minimalist format seen in Apple and even Best Buy stores, according to a report in the StarTribune.
“It’s more a minimalist approach with space for consumers to touch and test the merchandise,” said Chris Christopher, director of consumer electronics at IHS Global Insight in Massachusetts, in the report.
The new format is designed to give customers a more convenient way to interact with products and services, according to spokeswoman Erica Julkowski, who was also quoted in the article.
Target is testing the format at its Brooklyn Park, Mankato, Ridgedale and the Quarry locations in Minneapolis, as well as outside Minnesota, before deciding whether to remodel the electronics departments of all 1,800 stores nationwide.
