New York -- Target Corp. is enhancing the digital experience for its customers. The company is revamping its existing flagship app (with new versions for both iPhones and iPads) and its Cartwheel coupon app, and is also developing a new app for pharmacy, with rollouts scheduled for later this month. The retailer is also in the middle of updating its gift registry app.
“We view mobile as the new front door to Target,” said Jason Goldberger, senior vice president of Target.com and mobile. “We’re launching a host of significant enhancements and updates to Target’s mobile offerings – making it easier than ever for guests to shop Target.”
Target’s iPhone app update includes enhanced navigation, search, lists and maps. Shopping lists will be front and center, and include a scanning feature. Enhanced search functionality and interactive store maps, which show the location of any item within a Target store, are intended make finding products easier.
The company’s iPad app updates include a feature that will allow shoppers to personalize the homepage by choosing exactly which categories to feature. The app will also showcase trending Target items on Pinterest.
Target’s new pharmacy app, called Target Healthful, will allow shoppers to organize prescriptions, check prescription status, transfer prescriptions and place orders for refills.
Target’s Cartwheel coupon app is being updated to allow for personalized recommendations based on customers’ in-app activities. It is also adding exclusive offers that reward loyal shoppers with more personalized, higher-value offers.
In related news, and as previously reported, Target is doing a pilot with start-up Curbside for same-day pickup at 10 stores in the San Francisco Bay area.
