Target’s voluntary recall is helping keep Halloween safe for young children.
The mass merchandiser recalled 127,000 Halloween-themed LED gel window “clings” because of the choking hazard they pose to children. The decals, an easy and affordable way to decorate windows and glass doors, light up when a dedicated button is pressed.
If the decal is separated however, the clings expose the LED and button battery compartment. If swallowed, children could choke or face ingestion hazards, according to a statement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which added that no injuries have been reported.
The recall is focused on six Halloween-themed LED gel cling designs, including a green skeleton, pink skeleton, purple spider, black cat, orange pumpkin and black bat. The decals, which were sold at stores between August and September, were supplied by a Chinese manufacturer.
Target is offering a refund to shoppers that return the product, the statement said.
