Target Loses U.K. Logo Fight
Minneapolis, Target Corp.’s familiar bulls-eye logo may face restrictions in the United Kingdom after the retailer lost a trademark fight with a company there that uses a similar logo. A ruling from the United Kingdom’s Intellectual Property Office on Monday found that MusicChoice, a London-based digital-music provider, had exclusive rights to the logo, which it registered there in 2001, according to a report from Financial Times.
MusicChoice is also pressing a trademark fight elsewhere in Europe, the paper reported. Target currently doesn’t have any full-time stores in Europe, though it’s launched a couple temporary, or “pop-up” stores.
