Target gets fresh with Philly

1/18/2010

The Amtrak train from New York to Philadelphia this Thursday will be filled with retail analysts bound for a Target meeting and a tour of the retailer’s P-Fresh format. As a reminder, P-Fresh is Target’s merchandising initiative to greatly increase the offering of food at its discount stores. At the end of the third quarter, the company had 108 stores operating in the P-Fresh format, including 30 in the Philadelphia area, with plans for another 350 stores in 2010.

The major merchandising initiative has produced desirable sales growth and, with its commitment to the concept set to ramp up next year, Target is eager to convey the benefits to the financial community by offering a first hand perspective.

Based on a preliminary agenda, the event is set to begin with a store tour from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by executive presentation from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
