Target boosts commitment to The Salvation Army
MINNEAPOLIS Target announced that the company has increased its holiday and year-long commitment to The Salvation Army, donating nearly $2.5 million to support the organization in 2008.
"At Target, we share The Salvation Army's goal of helping those in need everyday and we're proud that our expanded support will increase the organization's vast reach even more," said Laysha Ward, president of community relations for Target. "Working together, Target and The Salvation Army will help make this year and holiday season brighter for families across the country."
Target's support of The Salvation Army this year included its new project of providing $50,000 in donated toys and Target GiftCards to each of The Salvation Army's four territories in support of its holiday toy drives. Target also is providing an additional $50,000 to The Salvation Army Twin Cities division. Target team members will be staffing and volunteering at the Twin Cities Division Toy Shops the end of December, giving out toys donated by Target to families in need.
