Survey: Green Consumers Spend More on Organics
Phoenix Green consumers are the top spenders in categories offering a higher selection of sustainable choices, such as produce, eggs and light bulbs, according to a new survey by The Nielsen Co. and the Natural Marketing Institute.
Green households, according to the survey, account for 81% of organic-product purchases, nearly four times as much as "unconcerned" consumers (consumers not on the eco-radar).
These consumers are also more likely to purchase products with health claims, such as gluten-free and multi-grain.
Green consumers are also more likely to shop in warehouse clubs than non-green consumers, the report said.
