Survey finds Macy's tops in international recognition

NEW YORK - Macy's announced that it was found to be the number one department store retailer in the United States, according to a survey of international visitors by Mandala Research.


Mandala Research, an independent Washington, DC based travel research firm, partnered with the United States Department of Commerce/Office of Travel & Tourism Industries for the study, which was underwritten by Macy's and Shop America Alliance. The DOC polled inbound travelers to the United States on their overall itineraries and specifically on their shopping plans. The study was conducted amongst 2,500 respondents from August through October 2010, over age 18 who visited the United States in the past 12 months.


According to Macy's, the study results showed that it had the most brand awareness among other department store retailers. In a ranking including other top United States brands from different businesses, Macy's rated second only to McDonald'sin recognition.
