Survey: Credit-card fraud up in United States

2/11/2011

New York City -- One-third (29% ) of consumers across eight major economies have been victims of credit-card fraud in the past five years, according to the 2010 Global Card Fraud Survey by ACI Worldwide, an international provider of payment systems.

The United States has a higher instance of credit-card fraud than most other countries surveyed, with 32% of consumers falling victim in the past five years, up from 27% only 18 months ago, ACI’s 2010 Global Card Fraud survey. The number of credit-card fraud victims varies significantly by country -- 43% of people in China for example, compared with only 11% in the Netherlands.
