Supply chain solutions provider gets new SVP, marketing chief
MIAMI — Ryder System, a leading commercial transportation and supply chain management solutions provider, has appointed Karen Jones as SVP and chief marketing officer. She will report to chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez.
Jones will be responsible for leading both the Fleet Management Solutions and Supply Chain Solutions marketing departments and integrating the management of all marketing and brand related activities across Ryder.
“Ryder’s brand is widely known and associated with safety, reliability, and quality, a reputation the company has earned by delivering on its promises to customers for 80 years,” said Sanchez “By bringing together the solution-specific expertise of our FMS and SCS marketing organizations under the leadership of a proven brand builder like Karen, we will be able to make better use of the Ryder brand to drive innovation and growth.”
Previously Jones was at NRG/Reliant Energy, Inc., where she served as chief marketing officer. She was responsible for launching the company’s new corporate brand. Jones also led the introduction of new solar products and other innovative services. Prior to that, she was senior vice president of marketing and a member of the U.S. management board for DHL Express North America. At DHL, she was responsible for all areas of marketing, and other functions related to increasing overall brand reputation. Prior to DHL, Jones served in key positions responsible for worldwide brand advertising, sponsorship and strategic alliances for Hewlett Packard, and earlier in worldwide brand and marketing roles with Compaq Computer Corporation.
Jones has a BA in journalism from the University of Houston.
