Supervalu to consolidate Albertsons procurement

Minneapolis Supervalu plans to consolidate its five Albertsons meat and grocery procurement offices in the western United States into one regional department in Fullerton, Calif., according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

Produce procurement for those Albertsons distribution centers will be split between an office in Irvine, Calif., and W. Newell & Co., Supervalu subsidiary based in Champaign, Ill.

Supervalu, which acquired Albertsons in 2006, said the consolidation efforts will begin in the next few weeks and should be completed by summer.
