Supervalu to buy 8 Wyo. Albertsons stores
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Supervalu announced today that it has agreed to buy eight Albertsons stores Albertson’s LLC operates in Wyoming. The company said it will continue to operate these stores under the Albertsons banner name, and all stores include an Osco in-store pharmacy.
“These are high-performing stores that are well-positioned in their markets,” explained Pete Van Helden, evp of Supervalu Retail West. “The Albertsons name has long symbolized great customer service in the state of Wyoming and we look forward to continuing that tradition of excellence.”
Helden added that the associates of the purchased Albertsons will remain on board after the transition.
Supervalu currently operates two Albertsons stores in Wyoming. Once the acquisition is complete, the newly purchased stores will become part of Supervalu's Intermountain West division, which operates 243 stores in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and North Dakota. The acquisition is expected to be completed in late January 2008, subject to customary government approval.
