Publix, Chick-fil-A, Amazon.com, H-E-B, and BJ's Wholesale Club are the nation’s most trusted retailers, according to an annual survey by the Temkin Group.
The “2016 Temkin Trust Ratings,” based on a study of 10,000 U.S consumers, benchmarks the level of trust that consumers have with 294 companies across 20 industries.
The supermarket industry earned the highest average trust rating (61%), and was the only industry studied that earned an "okay" rating. Publix ranked first among the grocery chains, and also came in at number three in the overall ratings. Earlier this year, Publix came out on top overall in Temkin’s Experience Ratings survey.
Insurance companies, retailers, investment firms, and hotels were next on the list with mediocre ratings between 54% and 55%.
Of the 260 companies in the 2015 and 2016 Temkin Trust Ratings, 81% of companies decreased in score while only 13% increased.
