Study: Adults Still Spending Online

New York City Seventy-eight percent of adult consumers made an online purchase over the last six months, according to Nielsen Online, a service of the Nielsen Co.

While online travel and credit-card management were the leading categories in online consumer spending, 28% of consumers who made online purchases over the past six months bought clothing, shoes and accessories. About 26% bought books. 

eBay brought in the most unique visitors (49.2 million) in October. Amazon followed with 48.2 million unique visitors and Wal-Mart Stores placed third with 25.3 million unique visitors.
