Stater Bros. Charities is donating $150,000 to 13 local food banks and pantries in an effort to make sure children have enough to eat during the summer months when food reserves are traditionally low and when they don’t have access to meals through school food programs.
The funds were donated by Stater Bros. customers and employees this past holiday season during the Harvesting Hope in Our Community program.
Each year, the Harvesting Hope in Our Community program contributes more than $6 million in cash and food donations, which provide 42 million meals for hungry families in the communities where Stater Bros. customers and employees live and work.
"We are in the business of helping our neighbors and right now, some of our neighbors need a little bit more help than the rest. It's our hope that these donations will have a major impact in their lives," said Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets.
