Stater Bros. ceo earns top Marine Corps honor
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. Jack Brown, chairman and ceo of Stater Bros. Supermarkets, will receive the "2008 Semper Fidelis Award", which is the highest honor bestowed by the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, at the Foundation's Annual Ball on Oct. 25.
Brown served in the United States Naval Reserves for six years (1956 to 1962). He was called to active duty in 1959, where he served in the Pacific Fleet, and was honorably discharged in June 1962.
Following his military service, Brown returned to the supermarket industry and quickly rose through the ranks. He joined Stater Bros. Supermarkets as president and ceo in 1981 and has been at the helm of the company for the past 27 years.
