Starbucks spends $180K lobbying in Q1
Washington, D.C. Starbucks Corp. spent $180,000 in the first quarter to lobby the federal government on food safety regulations and other issues, according to a disclosure report.
That's up sharply from the $80,000 the coffee house spent in the year-ago period, and 5.3% less than the $190,000 it spent in fourth quarter 2009.
The company also lobbied the federal government on legislation involving foreign income, healthcare labor law and clean energy.
In the January-through-March period, the restaurant company lobbied both chambers of Congress, according to the report filed with the House clerk's office.
