Staples names Avon pres. to board

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. Staples announced the appointment of Elizabeth Smith, president of Avon Products, to its board of directors.

"Liz brings a wealth of global business expertise, consumer products knowledge and operating experience, making her a great addition to our strong board of directors," said Ron Sargent, Staples chairman and ceo.

Smith joined Avon in January 2005 as evpand brand president and was given the additional role of leading Avon North America in September 2005. Smith was named president of Avon Products in September 2007.
