Staples CEO compensated $10.8M in 2009
Framingham, Mass. Staples' CEO Ronald Sargent received compensation worth $10.8 million in 2009, down 15% from 2008 when he received more stock and option awards.
In 2009, Sargent received a base salary of $1.1 million and a performance-based bonus of $1.3 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday. He also received other compensation worth $393,796.
The bulk of his pay came in the form of stock and option awards, which were valued at $7.9 million the day they were granted.
A year ago, Sargent earned a compensation package worth about $12.6 million. He did not receive a performance-based bonus but he received stock and option awards valued at $11 million the day they were granted.
