Staples Canada launches small-business credit card

Toronto Staples Canada has partnered with Citi Cards Canada to create the Citi Staples easyRewards Business MasterCard.

Created with Canada’s small businesses in mind, the credit card enables users to earn rewards, offers cash flow assistance with 60-day payment deferments on large purchases, and online-accounting controls to manage and track card purchases.

"There are nearly 1.3 million small businesses in Canada,” said Steve Matyas, president, Staples Canada. “The new card provides specific tools that will make doing business a little easier for entrepreneurs.”

The retailer expects the card to be successful among this customer segment, as the average small business spends over $2,000 a year (8% of their total credit-card expenditures) on office supplies alone, according to a poll conducted by Staples.

The card will be accepted at all 300 Staples Canada locations and wherever MasterCard is accepted.
