Staples buys office supply company in Finland

Framingham, Mass. Staples added to its European holdings on Friday, buying Finnish office supply company Oy Lindell Ab.

Staples said it has had an alliance with Oy Lindell to serve global contract customers in Finland since it bought Dutch office supply chain Corporate Express NV in 2008.

Financial terms were undisclosed. Staples said the deal will let Oy Lindell use its global buying power and share best practices.

Oy Lindell, which is 120 years old, has a central warehouse, seven company-owned shops and two franchised stores in Finland.

International sales account for roughly 20% of revenue for Staples.
