Staples boosts recycled paper offerings
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. Staples announced today that it has become the first national copy and print operation to make Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper a standard offering for black and white high-speed copy and print jobs. According to Staples, the FSC-certified paper uses at least 50% post-consumer recycled waste content. The company said it would provide both 100% and 50% post-consumer recyled content.
“These FSC-certified recycled content paper products are another way that Staples makes it easy for customers to make a difference for the environment—what we call EcoEasy,” said Mark Buckley, vp of environmental affairs at Staples. “As one of the world’s largest paper retailers, Staples considers it our duty to set the highest environmental standards in our industry. By making FSC paper the standard offering in our Copy & Print Centers, we provide customers with the most environmentally preferable option available anywhere. We’ll continue to encourage our suppliers to move toward even more FSC-certified fiber as Staples works to advance environmentally responsible attributes of our products across categories.”
Staples said it plans to have the majority of paper products it offers comply to FSC standards by the end of 2010.
