Staples and FTC battle grows more contentious

The federal judge presiding over the Federal Trade Commission’s effort to block a merger between Staples and Office depot urged the parties to resolve their difference, but that seems unlikely given both sides are firmly entrenched in their positions.



At the hearing to resolve FTC’s complaints about the anti-competitive effects of the merger, both sides have had unflattering things to say about the other as detailed in a recent Bloomberg story. Final arguments in the case are scheduled for April 19.
