Staples add new tech title
Staples has appointed Faisal Masud to the newly created role of chief technology officer.
Masud had previously served as executive VP of global e-ecommerce since joining the company in May, 2013. Prior to Staples, he served as VP and general manager for Groupon, responsible for managing Groupon Goods’ global strategy and execution. He also held various leadership roles at eBay and Amazon.
During his time at Staples, Masud has driven the build-up of the company’s digital channels, lead e-commerce efforts across the organization and been instrumental in the continued development of Staples’ platforms and sites and related mobile assets.
“Today’s digital leader must create a unified digital strategy, realize synergies, and decide on the right investments, all while developing the appropriate technology platform to support innovation, responsibilities which traditionally have fallen to multiple positions,” said Masud. “As Staples evolves its technology infrastructure it’s critical for the organization to think digital and mobile first, and combining product management with technology will drive change from one consolidated CTO lens.”
