Sport Authority to open on Thanksgiving

For the second year in a row, Sports Authority said most of its stores would open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.



The retailer is among a growing group of companies who open on Thanksgiving day and offer shoppers a preview of Black Friday weekend promotional offers. The company said its Black Friday sale runs Thursday, November 27 through Saturday, November 29, starting with doorbuster deals on Thursday and Friday, while supplies last. Customers can also shop doorbusters at Sportsauthority.com starting at 12:01am EST on Thanksgiving Day. Stores will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.



“Every Black Friday, we kick off the holiday season by offering our customers the best deals of the year,” said Michael E. Foss, CEO of Sports Authority. “For the second year in a row, our customers can conveniently shop more than a hundred Black Friday doorbusters on footwear, apparel, team sports, fitness equipment, golf gear and more starting at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.”



The first 50 people in line at each store when they open on Thursday will get a free Sports Authority logo chair with a purchase of $20 or more. Additionally, Sports Authority will hand out Bonus Bucks worth up to $500 to the first 80 people in line at select locations on both Thursday and Friday. Finally, shoppers will receive a $25 Sports Authority Cash Card when they purchase Columbia or The North Face merchandise totaling $125 or more, or any FitBit merchandise totaling $100 or more.
