SoCal Fresh & Easy draw 1,000 applicants

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market reported today that nearly 1,000 people applied for 170 positions at the company's first six stores set to open Southern California on Nov. 8.

According to Fresh & Easy, more than 50% if store employees live within three miles of the stores, more than 40% of store employees are full time and three store employees have been promoted to management positions based on strong performances.

"We are delighted our recruitment efforts have been so well received," said Simon Uwins, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market chief marketing officer. "Our store positions offer competitive salaries, rewards and benefits. Based on the number of applicants we've had for our first six stores, it is clear our neighbors are interested in working with us."

Fresh & Easy said that all entry-level positions at its start at $10 an hour in California, with similarly competitive salaries in Arizona and Nevada. All positions include a quarterly bonus of up to 10%. The company intends all store employees will work more than 20 hours a week and receive affordable healthcare including medical, prescription drugs, dental and vision coverage, with Fresh & Easy paying at least 75% of the cost, and a qualifying period of 90 days.
