Smoothie King expands in Egypt and Turkey

New Orleans Smoothie King Franchises signed an agreement with the Egyptian real estate development and hospitality firm Amer Group to open approximately 20 locations in Egypt and Turkey.

The first unit, in El Alamein, Egypt, is expected to open later this summer. Additional locations are planned for Cairo and cities along the Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts. Tropicana for Projects, S.A.E., a wholly owned subsidiary of Amer Group Corp., is the developer.

Smoothie King first ventured internationally in 2003 with the opening of a location in Seoul, South Korea. The company now has 52 South Korean locations.

Including its South Korea operations and its 500 U.S.-based stores, Smoothie King currently operates more than 600 locations.
