ShopRite to test mobile coupons

Elizabeth, N.J. ShopRite, a division of Wakefern Food Corp., is preparing to test the redemption of mobile coupons at its Hillsborough, N.J. store beginning Sunday.

Customers can sign up for the service at www.samplesaint.com, where they enter their Web-enabled cellphone number. Mobile coupons are delivered directly to their phone. During checkout, shoppers present their phone displaying the promotion. Cashiers scan the barcode, and discounts will be electronically applied to their order.

Discounts will be available on Breyers ice cream, Dove soap, Hellmann’s mayonnaise and Lipton tea, all brands manufactured by consumer products goods supplier Unilever. Chicago-based mobile technology firm Samplepaint will maintain the program.
