Shopko set to roll out two Express locations

GREEN BAY, Wis. Shopko announced on Wednesday that it expects to open two additional Shopko Express stores in mid-2008 in the Appleton area.

"This announcement is exciting in that it represents another step forward in our overall growth plans," said Michael R. MacDonald, Shopko chairman and ceo. "It also reinforces our excitement about the prospects for the entire Express store strategy."

Shopko Express is a neighborhood drug store format focused on providing professional pharmacy services; health and wellness products and information; home business solutions; and photo processing, as well as food and beverages and traditional drug store merchandise.

Shopko rolled out its Express stores in 2005 and currently has three Express locations in Howard, Ledgeview and Port Washington, Wis. The new Express stores planned for 2008, while offering the same mix of merchandise, will incorporate a new design and assortment of products, in accordance with customer feedback. The company expects one of the new locations will include an optical center and a Bellin FastCare Clinic.
