Shopko reveals location for first '09 store

GREEN BAY, Wis. Shopko today announced that its first new store for 2009 will be located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the fifth in the state. The company also announced that it is bringing a fifth Shopko store to the suburban Omaha market.

According to Shopko, the new store in Council Bluffs will feature Shopko’s new prototype design that features new lighting, signage and other details designed to make shopping more efficient.

“This announcement represents the continuation of an exciting growth phase for Shopko,” said Michael MacDonald, Shopko chairman and ceo. In 2008, Shopko will open five new stores in Wisconsin and another in Minnesota. These include three new full-line prototype stores and three Shopko Express stores.
