ShopKo to offer in-store health care clinics

GREEN BAY, Wis. ShopKo and Medical Marts Group have announced a partnership to provide health care services in many of the national ShopKo stores. The first Medical Marts will open late this summer within ShopKo stores in Utah and expand nationally from that area.

"Our partnership with Medical Marts complements ShopKo’s pharmacies, eye care centers and retail health care products,” said Mike Bettiga, ShopKo senior vp of retail health. “The ShopKo and Medical Marts venture will make health care much more convenient for the consumer and have a lasting positive impact on their health and lifestyle by decreasing wait time, providing expanded hours of operation and becoming more consumer friendly."

According to the companies, ShopKo customers who want to use the Medical Marts' services will be given silent pagers, allowing them to shop until paged by the staff. In addition, faster pharmacy service will be provided based on immediate electronic transmittal of prescriptions to the ShopKo pharmacy or the pharmacy of the patient’s choice by Medical Marts physicians.
