Shoe Carnival profit up in Q4
Evansville, Ind. Shoe Carnival, which sells shoes and accessories, on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter profit, helped by lower expenses and improving sales.
The company's profit for the three months ended Jan. 30 totaled $2.6 million, compared with a loss of $3 million in the period a year earlier.
Revenue rose 9% to $170.8 million, from $156.9 million last year, while same-store sales rose 8.8%.
For the year, the company's profit more than doubled to $15.2 million from $5.3 million last year. Revenue rose 5% to $682.4 million, from $647.6 million.
