For the third year in a row, Macy’s is asking shoppers to donate to America’s veterans – but this time there’s a selfie involved.
Macy’s is teaming up with Got Your 6 on a new charitable program, which kicks off with an innovative social media campaign, #AmericanSelfie, a “Got Your 6 Saturday” savings pass, and a commercial spot with Emmy Award-winning host and producer, Ryan Seacrest.
“Got Your 6 is an amazing organization that helps make positive contributions to the veteran community every day,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer.“Since 2013, Macy’s has raised more than $5 million for Got Your 6 and its nonprofit partners. With the support of Macy’s associates and customers, we hope to increase awareness and funds so Got Your 6 can continue its mission to help veterans make America stronger.”
Now through July 4, people can share their #AmericanSelfie photos on Instagram and Twitter, showcasing what they love most about America. For each photo tagged with #AmericanSelfie, Macy’s will donate $1 to Got Your 6 to support military veterans, up to $250,000. In addition, #AmericanSelfie will be part of Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show, the nation’s largest Independence Day display telecast nationally on NBC.
“Got Your 6 and our nonprofit partners are tremendously thankful for Macy’s continued dedication to veterans,” said Chris Marvin, Managing Director of Got Your 6. “As a result of the Macy’s American Icons campaign, we have empowered more than 2 million veterans and families to strengthen their communities. Through this year’s partnership with Macy’s, we’re excited to carry forward this momentum.”
Macy’s American Icons campaign will run now through July 4.
Macy’s has 775 locations in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam.
