Select Kroger stores selling Bombay Furniture-branded home decor

New York --Bombay Company said Kroger Co. has introduced select Bombay furniture, accessories and gifts at 180 of its stores, Furniture Today reported.


The merchandise mix includes “mirrors, vases and novelty accents, as well as furniture pieces such as chairs, upholstered pieces, accent tables and iconic Bombay coffee tables," Bombay said in a release.


"Bombay has always stood for value luxury and time-tested quality," said Wil Hollands, president of Hermes-Otto International, owner of The Bombay Company brand. "We are proud to partner with a group of retailers that represent those same qualities and are excited that consumers across the country will once again be able to shop for Bombay products in-store."


Bombay Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2007, selling off its Canadian assets and liquidating its U.S. stores. Its trademarks and intellectual property were subsequently purchased by Hilco Consumer Capital and Gordon Brothers Group, which relaunched the Bombay brand through a joint partnership in 2008. In January, 2011,the brand was acquired by Hermes-Otto International USA LLC, the U.S. division of global fashion and lifestyle company Otto Group.


Bombay has been repositioned for the wholesale market with programs suited to specialty, department and mass channels.
