Sears swaps discounts for donations
Sears is taking the saying, “it is better to give than to receive” to heart.
Coinciding with its “Season of Wishes” holiday campaign, the department store chain is rewarding shoppers at Sears Hometown and outlet stores who donate $5 to Make-A-Wish with a “Very Merry Santa Sale” pass for an extra discount between Dec. 15 and Dec. 24.
Specifically, Sears Hometown, Sears Home Appliance Showroom and Sears Appliance & Hardware customers will receive an extra 10% off everything storewide during the redemption period, and outlet shoppers will receive an extra 20% off everything storewide.
Since Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. began partnering with Make-A-Wish in 2014, the chain has raised more than $2.5 million in donations, helping grant more than 150 wishes, the company said.
“Our goal is to continue to grow our contribution to Make-A-Wish to support their vision of granting the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition,” said Will Powell, Sears CEO and president.
