Sears Spent $280,000 Lobbying

New York Sears Holdings Corp. spent more than $280,000 in 2007 to lobby the federal government, the Associated Press reported.

The company spent $140,539 in the second half of 2007 to lobby Congress on credit-card fees, the transition to digital television, copyright issues, product safety and data security, according to a disclosure form posted online Feb. 11 by the Senate's public records office.

Sears Holdings, spent $140,746 in the first six months of 2007 to lobby on legislation dealing with patent reform, data security, computer recycling and labor issues.

Lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches, under a federal law enacted in 1995.
