Former Dell and Best Buy executive William Hutchinson is joining Sears Holdings at SVP and president of supply chain.

Hutchinson spent seven years with Dell and most recently served as vp of global fulfillment and logistics for the Round Rock, Texas-based company. In his new role Hutchinson will be accountable for all aspects of the company's supply chain, including distribution, transportation, customs compliance and global sourcing. He is filling a role previously held by Raj Penkar, who will retire from the company on May 31.

"Bill possesses the right combination of leadership, operational proficiency and technical acumen to lead our supply chain business unit," said Edward S. Lampert, Sears Holdings chairman and CEO. "His significant background working within retail environments will support a seamless transition and Bill's proven ability to achieve results is critical to improving our members' experience."

Prior to Dell, Hutchinson spent two year with Best Buy as vp of logistics and supply chain and for three years prior to that he served as SVP of transportation with Rite Aid. He has also held supply chain roles with Accenture, Commerx and Andersen Consulting.
