In search of multichannel magic with new leader
Casey Carl is Target’s new president of multichannel with responsibility for the retailer’s website. In his new role, Carl will oversee Target’s digital platforms including mobile, social and Target.com and also will retain his prior responsibilities as SVP merchandising for entertainment, toys, sporting goods and electronics.
Those are all key online categories, especially during the holidays, so Carl is no stranger to the digital world. He also served as co-lead on the retailer’s multichannel steering committee, a position which should have afforded him a clear view of the missed opportunities associated with the late August relaunch of Target.com that led to service disruptions. Shortly after the relaunch and subsequent problems with site functionality Target announced the department of former online president Steve Eastman.
“We are firmly committed to implementing a multichannel strategy that enables our guests to engage with Target anywhere, anytime,” said Kathee Tesija, Target’s EVP merchandising. “Under Casey’s leadership and with the support of a strong team, we are confident that we will continue to improve our digital operations and deliver on our ‘Expect More. Pay Less’ brand promise.”
Carl joined Target in 1997.
