Schimenti constructs Kohl’s showroom

Schimenti Construction has created a new space for Kohl’s Corp. to show off its latest collections.



The 4,000-sq.-ft. showroom, at 1400 Broadway in the garment district of Manhattan, acts as a striking backdrop to the retailer’s latest fashions, with large windows, bright spotlights and a gleaming white epoxy floor. The new space is in the same building that houses Kohl’s design offices. The retailer now occupies 100,000 sq. ft. on four floors.



“The team goal was to create a showroom environment with an open feel — in a building that was designed for office space,” said John Colonnese, project executive, Schimenti Construction, Ridgefield, Connecticut. “And, since the construction spanned the holiday season, we were challenged to meet our deadline despite many long lead and specialty items. Ultimately we’re able to turn the project over as planned.”



Construction was begun in mid-October 2015 and completed by the end of January 2016. The architect was CS GLOBAL Group.
