Satisfaction remains solid

2/23/2009

Target again scored near the top of its peer group in the University of Michigan’s American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) ranking of department and discount stores. For the third straight year, Target scored 77 on a satisfaction scale that ranges from 0 to 100, but trailed Nordstrom and Kohl’s who both scored 80 and JCPenney which scored 78. Target scored well ahead of Wal-Mart which was at the bottom of the group with a score of 70. ACSI was developed by the National Quality Research Center at the Stephen M. Ross Business School at the University of Michigan. Data used to produce score is gleaned from telephone interviews with adults in 250 households.
