Sam’s Club preps members for healthy summer
BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer and outdoor fun, so Sam’s Club is taking the opportunity to promote healthy skin and weight management with a series of preventative health screenings from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
Screenings are free and open to the public at all Sam’s Club locations that have a pharmacy. Tests, which are valued at up to $150, include weight; height; blood pressure; vision; body mass index, which is an indicator of body fat used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems; cortisol, the primary stress hormone, which has an effect on many different body systems, is produced by the adrenal or pituitary glands. Cortisol is measure by a blood test that shows how well the glands are working.
Upon completion of the health screenings, participants will receive a certificate to pick up a free sample of Align probiotic supplements at the Sam’s Club Pharmacy.
“As summer arrives, Americans are more focused on getting in shape and spending more time in the sun,” said Jill Turner-Mitchael, SVP, Sam’s Club Health and Wellness. “Sam’s Club is hosting preventive weight maintenance, stress and skin health screenings to help people prevent potential skin damage from the sun and understand the effects that stress and cortisol levels may have on weight and skin maintenance.”
Sam’s Club features pharmacy benefits, plus skin, stress and weight maintenance tips in its May/June 2013 issue of Healthy Living Made Simple magazine, including skin protection counsel for all ages from nationally acclaimed dermatologists.
