Sam's Club opens new store with a bang

5/5/2015

Sam’s Club is toasting the grand opening of its newest club in Oklahoma with thousands of dollars in community grants and special appearances by politicians and celebrities.

The new Sam’s Club at 1705 S. Broadway Ave. in Moore, Okla., opens May 7 following an 8 a.m. grand opening ceremony. The company says the grand opening celebration will focus on the company’s commitment to the local community. “We’re so happy to be part of the community and look forward to giving back whenever we can,” said Club Manager Farrokh Moinian.

“I’m extremely proud of our associates who’ve already volunteered 500 hours in the Moore community before we’ve even opened our doors to the public.”

Sam’s Club associates selected several Moore-area schools and non-profit organizations to receive $16,000 in community giving grants.

In addition, Oklahoma Sen. Anthony Sykes, Moore Mayor Glen Lewis, City Manager Steve Eddy and members of the Moore Chamber of Commerce will be among those in attendance at the grand opening ceremony. The club will also host celebrity appearances and autograph signings, including:

• Tony Casillas, former OU and Dallas Cowboys Defensive Lineman, May 7 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

• Steve Owens, former OU Running Back and 1969 Heisman Trophy winner, May 8 from 1 - 3 p.m.

• Barry Switzer, former OU and Dallas Cowboys Head Coach, May 9 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Sam’s Club will also offer free health screenings and showcase a variety of food samples and product demonstrations. Special Road Show events include Oklahoma’s very own Black Jack Beef Jerky, Suan’s Pepper Jelly and Woody Candy to name a few.

Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), is the nation’s eighth largest retailer and a leading membership warehouse club offering superior products and services in 649 clubs across the U.S., as well as in Brazil, China and Mexico.
