Sam’s Club Installs Solar-Power Systems

Chino, Calif., SunPower Corp. has installed the first of seven solar-power systems planned for Wal-Mart Stores. The 390-kilowatt system was installed at Sam's Club, Chino, Calif.

Earlier, Wal-Mart announced plans to install solar panels at about 22 of its stores and distribution centers in Hawaii and California. It expects the stores to save on utility bills starting the first day of each system's operation and estimates the systems will reduce its annual greenhouse-gas emissions by 8,000 to 10,000 metric tons.
