Sam's Club gets a new home office

9/18/2008

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Sam’s Club announced that it is relocating its home office to 2101 S.E. 25th Street, Bentonville, Ark., 72712 where associates in merchandising, operations, membership and other departments will now be housed to support its 594 clubs nationwide.

Wal-Mart Stores purchased the facility formerly known as the Superior Building for $29.9 million. Additional details of the transaction will not be disclosed.

Sam’s Club Home Office Associates are expected to relocate during the first quarter of 2009. About 25% of the building will be available to accommodate growth on the Wal-Mart side of the business should that space be needed. Wal-Mart also anticipates re-locating some of its Home Office Associates into the existing Sam’s Club buildings at 508 and 608 S.W. 8th Street.

“This facility will provide Sam’s Club with a unique opportunity to house all of its club support functions under one roof and help us improve our focus on serving associates in the clubs and our members,” said Doug McMillon, president and ceo of Sam’s Club. “Wal-Mart continues to grow and this frees up much needed space today and into the future for the company.”
