Sam’s Club gets new finance chief

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Liz Kirkwood was named senior vp of finance for Wal-Mart’s Sam’s Club division to replace former cfo Sam Dunn who moved to Japan to fill the role of chief administrative officer at Wal-Mart’s Seiyu division.

Kirkwood joined Wal-Mart’s international division in March 2002 as a finance director where she support the company’s European operations and led financial services initiatives. In 2005, she was named vp of finance and accounting, risk, benefits and administration for Wal-Mart Stores. In that capacity she was responsible for financial analysis, accounting and controls for claims administration, insurance, benefits, retirement, global security, travel and aviation.

Most recently, she served as a vp in Wal-Mart’s global people division where she was focused on process improvements.
